Tess Paterson (freelance writer and photojournalist)

Freelance writer and photojournalist (Johannesburg)

Once upon a time …

… a décor editor realised she could combine her love of words and travel. It had started in Mogadishu, where Tess chronicled the story of female US marines serving in the combat zone. Since then her work has taken her all over the world – from Thailand, France and Mexico, to Mozambique and Burgersdorp – a Karoo town where she discovered that biltong is indeed the breakfast of choice.

Where is she now?

Tess is a freelance writer and photojournalist whose portfolio can be found on www.tallstory.co.za. She is a regular contributor to House & Leisure, Food & Home Entertaining and Country Life magazines and is happiest when finding the ‘otherness’, the hidden and ambiguous that lies behind a first impression.
